Design Guidelines of the Internet of Drones Location Privacy Protocols

Resumo

The Internet of Drones (IoD), also known as the Internet of Flying Things (IoFT), has grown significantly over the last years in several civilian areas. It has particular aspects compared to other mobile networks, such as drones’ mobility and power constraints. Security is a mandatory requirement in this network paradigm, including location privacy. Currently, there is a lack of studies regarding IoD location privacy, which is required to investigate the threats and protection mechanisms for this kind of network. In this study, we present the perspectives and directions of IoD location privacy through a discussion that embraces the main concepts, the subjects that can affect this context, and the main challenges of this area. From that, we propose a framework to guide the design of location privacy mechanisms for the IoD scenario, including the protection mechanism, attack modeling, experiments, evaluation, and analysis of results.
